Sports massage provides specific techniques performed before, during, and after athletic events. In a pre-event sports massage, the goal is to stimulate the muscles in order to prepart the athlete for performance. The focus is on the major muscle groups that will be used for that event. Sports massage during an event maintains flexibility and range of motion in the muscles in order to help the athlete perform. In a post-event sports massage, the goal is to sedate the muscles and return them to resting state after performance.

“More movement is more life.” Ida Rolf
The body has an optimal position in order to have optimal health and wellness. Our everyday lives and activities cause problems with this position and create dysfunctions in our bodies. Stress, holding patterns, improper body mechanics, bad posture, lack of exercise and movement, and muscle compensation all contribute to a compromised body structurally.
It is important for a massage therapist to be able to visually asses the body they will be working on in order to provide optimum benefits to the client. This applies to everyone and for every type of massage. For example, we will be able to see tense neck and shoulder muscles causing elevated shoulders and slouching causing pain and stress. This will be addressed during the massage to provide the most benefit to those muscles.
We can provide a full body viewing assessment and inform you of slight or major muscle dysfunctions and restrictions.

Reflexology
Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the feet using specific thumb, finger and hand techniques. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas where certain points correspond to organs, glands and systems in the body. It also involves points on the hands and referral areas with anatomical relations throughout the body. Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and stress relieving treatment. It is a great modality for people who cannot or prefer not to receive a full body massage or have injuries that cannot be directly worked on.
